Why 14.4 seconds is the whole test

Open any single question on this site and it is unremarkable: an opposite, an average, a shape turned around. That is not a weakness of the practice material, it is the design of the test. Wonderlic, Inc. is not asking whether you can find the average of four numbers. It is asking how many ordinary things you can do correctly in 12 minutes.

Which means the practice that transfers is not "learn harder questions". It is: recognise the type in the first two seconds, decide immediately whether this is one you can do, and leave the ones that would eat thirty seconds. A person who answers 30 questions and gets 28 right beats a person who answers 40 and gets 24.
